One of China's largest automotive manufacturers, BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd.), is officially set to enter the Nepali market.
Laxmi e-Mobility will introduce the brand with the launch of the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid SUV during the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, marking BAIC's first passenger vehicle offering in Nepal.
The BJ30 is positioned as a rugged lifestyle hybrid SUV that blends traditional off-road styling with modern technology and electrified performance. Designed for buyers seeking a versatile family SUV capable of handling both urban roads and weekend adventures, the BJ30 is expected to become the flagship model for BAIC's entry into Nepal.

The SUV retains BAIC's signature off-road-inspired design language, featuring a bold five-slot front grille, squared-off wheel arches, sharp LED headlamps, a floating roof, and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. A flat roofline with a full-length roof rack and an upright rear tailgate further reinforce its rugged character while enhancing practicality for outdoor use.
Measuring 4,730 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase, the BJ30 offers generous cabin space for five occupants. The spacious interior has been designed to balance everyday comfort with adventure-ready practicality.

For Nepal, the BJ30 will be offered exclusively with BAIC's Magic Core DHEV hybrid powertrain. The system combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with front and rear electric motors paired to a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
According to BAIC, the hybrid system delivers performance comparable to a conventional 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine while providing significantly improved fuel efficiency through multiple driving modes.
The range-topping all-wheel-drive variant produces a combined 409 hp and 685 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph sprint in 6.59 seconds. Standard models offer Comfort, Economy, Sport, and Snow driving modes, while the intelligent all-wheel-drive version adds dedicated Mud, Sand, and Wading modes.

Combined with 215 mm of ground clearanceand BAIC's Intelligent ATS all-terrain control system, the BJ30 is designed to tackle challenging terrain without sacrificing on-road comfort.
The cabin features a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating infotainment display powered by Qualcomm's 8155 automotive chipset.
The dashboard adopts a clean, horizontal layout complemented by an aircraft-inspired electronic gear selector, crystal-textured drive mode controller, and minimalist switchgear that gives the interior a modern appearance.
Practicality is one of the BJ30's strongest attributes. With the rear seats folded, the cargo area extends to 1,902 mm, creating enough space for camping equipment or even a full-size air mattress.

The standard roof rack supports loads of up to 300 kg, making it suitable for rooftop tents and outdoor equipment. BAIC has also equipped the SUV with vehicle-to-load (V2L) power supply capability, projection screen mounting hooks, and a foldable utility table, allowing it to double as a mobile camping companion.
While BAIC is a new entrant to Nepal, it is one of China's most established automotive manufacturers. Founded in 1958, the state-owned automaker has been producing vehicles for more than six decades and operates successful joint ventures with Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai, manufacturing millions of vehicles annually.
Its rugged BJ series SUVs have become a familiar sight across China, where BAIC vehicles are extensively used by government departments, police agencies, military-related units, and public service fleets.
Over the years, BAIC has also emerged as one of China's leading manufacturers of SUVs and new-energy vehicles through continuous investment in hybrid and electric mobility.
The arrival of BAIC adds another major Chinese automotive brand to Nepal's rapidly evolving vehicle market, where demand for hybrid SUVs are beginning to pick up.
With its rugged styling, spacious interior, advanced hybrid technology, and genuine all-terrain capability, the BJ30 is expected to offer buyers a distinctive alternative in the premium SUV segment.
Laxmi e-Mobility is expected to announce the official Nepal-spec variants, pricing, and booking details during the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, where the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid SUV will officially introduce the BAIC brand to Nepali customers.
